Copyright & DMCA Policy

ViceMod respects the intellectual property rights of creators, studios and publishers, and expects everyone who uses the site to do the same. This page explains how rights holders can report content and what happens next.

Before you submit a notice#

A copyright notice must come from the owner of the copyright, or from someone authorized to act on their behalf. If you noticed possible infringement of someone else's work, please use our report form instead — we review those reports too.

If your complaint is about something other than copyright, such as a trademark, a scam or harassment, use the report form or contact us.

How to submit a notice#

The fastest way is our guided copyright notice form. You can also send a notice to our copyright notice form. A complete notice includes:

Your contact details: full legal name, email address and country, plus a phone number and postal address where available.
Your authority: whether you are the copyright owner or an authorized representative, and if you represent someone, who they are.
The copyrighted work: a description of the original work, and where it can be found if it is available online.
The content on ViceMod: the exact ViceMod URL of each page or file you believe infringes, so we can find it without guessing.
Statements: that you believe in good faith the use is not authorized by the owner, its agent or the law; that the information in your notice is accurate; and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner or authorized to act for them.
Your signature: a physical or electronic signature. On our form, typing your full legal name counts as your electronic signature.

Incomplete notices may take longer, and we may ask for more information.

What happens next#

You receive a reference number, such as VM-COPYRIGHT-2026-000001. Keep it for any follow-up.
A moderator reviews the notice. Submitting a notice does not automatically remove content.
While we review, we may temporarily restrict access to the reported content, for example by disabling downloads.
If the notice is valid, we remove or disable access to the content and let the uploader know. If it is incomplete or unclear, we may contact you. If we conclude it is not valid, we may reject it.
We keep a record of each case, including the steps we take. Records are kept even if the content is later removed.

We do not share your personal contact details with the uploader by default. If a formal legal process requires it, we may share the information in your notice.

If your content was removed#

If you uploaded content that was removed or restricted because of a copyright notice and you believe that was a mistake — for example because you own the work or have permission — contact us through our copyright notice form and quote the case reference. Include your contact details, identify the content, explain why you believe the removal was a mistake, and confirm that the information you give is accurate. We review these responses and do not restore content automatically. Where the law provides a formal counter-notice process, we will follow it.

Repeat infringers#

Accounts that repeatedly upload infringing content may be suspended or permanently terminated. We count confirmed violations — not unverified complaints, withdrawn notices or notices we rejected.

False or abusive notices#

Knowingly submitting false information in a copyright notice or a response to one can have legal consequences, including liability for damages. Please only submit a notice if you are confident it is accurate. We may disregard notices that are clearly abusive.
